My preference has grown towards high efficient speakers and tube gear. Love the vintage stuff where I can fit it in.

I am frustrated diyer in that I don't understand basic electrical concepts. But I make up for that with creating sawdust and relying on a few trusted friends.

My priority is:
1. to experience an intimate mid-range
2. room loading dynamics
3. 3D, snappy midbass with a punch
4. room loading low full bass with no mushiness.
5. a natural extended high end but not tilted up.

A lot to ask for but slowly making progress. I'm happy with 1 and 2, so everything else is icing on the cake.

The mid-bass is a bugger. Very difficult. Less dampening materiel and tinkering with bracing is slowly but surely getting dialed in. Still want more punch, dynamics and deeper sound-stage here. Room issues and speaker /amp synergy is an ongoing experiement and mostly beyond my understanding. I just try to make incremental improvements and then stop worrying about it and enjoy the music. Repeat.
