Internal Speaker Wire: XO to Drivers

Discussion in 'System and Room Tweaks' started by Stevenarrow, Oct 1, 2018.

  1. Hello,

I'm looking for recommendations for internal wire from the crossover to the driver. This is for an Altec 604 build. The crossover will be external, so I'm looking at 6' cable runs. Two way speaker: woofer and horn crossed at 1500.

The Dueland Tinned Copper wire is very nice. I use the 12ga from amp to speaker. Used the 16ga before that.

Perhaps try the 12ga from the crossover to the 15" and the 16ga from the crossover to the horn?

This is what I did with my 604 crossovers, all Duelund tinned copper. Except I used 20ga on the horn and 16g on the woofer.

12ga from amp to speaker. It’s excellent stuff.

    Did you twist the pairs?

I did not. I did so on the first iteration of this crossover when I used Neotech solid core but not with the Duelund.

Did this based on the feedback from Jeff Day on his blog.
