Sold Shure Premier (M75ed) w/ Jico SAS/B

Another giant killer...

This one started life as a Premier Black, which was a rebadged M75ed, at the time second in line to the V15. The original Shure stylus had been replaced with a really sad after-market thing, with the finesse of a soap dish. It ended up in the circular file after 1 play. Having already mounted a Jico SAS/B on a V15 iii, I knew they were special, so I got one for this cartridge. And it is now a really fine performer! Very close to the equal of the V15 iii, which has the advantage of a Stanley cocobolo body. Very solid bass, and the typical high-frequency roll-off of the M75 is not apparent with the Jico. I think it is relatively high compliance (20 to 22), but it's not easy to tell with Jico. I ran this cartridge on an SME 3009 Series 2 non-improved, and it really shined (shone?). light to medium mass tonearms probably.

The stylus was $282 when I bought it about 21 months ago. It has been used for just about 45 minutes (both sides of Dead Can Dance Into the Labyrinth), so it isn't even broken in yet. Cartridge body looks quite good, with no corrosion on the pins. There is a slight dent in the bottom of the body, but it does not seem to affect anything. Stylus slides in nicely and stays put.

If I were to keep this, I'd add a Stanley wood body (they are really amazing), but nothing else.

I'll sell for $235, including shipping to the lower 48. A good deal, even if you don't like the M75, as you could probably just sell the Jico for a nice profit. I'm a bit too lazy to do that, and besides, I like the cartridge as it is...a lot. Anyway, local pick-up is welcome in NYC (UWS), and of course one gets a shipping discount, a listen for a while, and a glass or two of something lovely and golden brown.

sorry about the pics. My hands are getting worse. I think I should get a tripod and some decent lights...IMG_1534.jpeg

I should have stated clearly: I will consider all reasonable offers. This is a lovely cartridge, but it needs a new home more than i need a specific amount.

Hmm, I might give this a go. Selling a JVC JL-A40 table to a guy and it needs a better cart on it. It has a Shure M70 on it with a new LP stylus but I think the JVC deserves better.
