Where the Greatest Hater of Computer Based Audio Begins to Consider a Digital Future..

Well, in the interests of full disclosure, I always have wanted a pair of 604s. I just never had the room for them.

But no SET amps, Dammit!! A man has to take a stand somewhere.
You know there’s a fellow with a similar avatar (on another thread) and he’s posting about buying such an amp on fleabay.

...I'm listening to a monster DSD 5.6 file of Louis Armstrong singing and playing through the North Star Designs Intenso DAC....This might be the single best source I've ever had in any system of mine. Yes, best source of any kind

Wow...this is amazing news! Never thought I'd see the day. Welcome, my friend. :)

Lol I'm not that bad. I was an early adopter of computer audio, but the software generally sucked, and the sound quality improvement wasn't enough to make up for the grief. In the 3 years since my last serious attempt at it, it would appear the software has caught up. Plus, this DAC is miraculous.

The other game changer for me is Tidal streaming MQA. That was likely the big difference that made me reconsider things. Man, does it ever sound fantastic in my rig.

You make a good point...there have been dramatic changes in software over the last couple of years. Good luck with your next go at this. Let me know if I can help in any way.

Thanks!
It seems Bill has a pretty good plan around it. I'm sure there will be more discussion as things sort themselves through.

Between that and Tidal with MQA, I should be in pretty darned good shape.
