Update:
I added subs to my system and although the Freya has a second set of outs, driving the subs sucks a little out of the 604’s, and I find myself cranking the volume near max. So......figured I’d post here, versus a new under $3k preamp thread?
Looking to up my preamp game and have two main contenders in my sights; Shindo Aurieges and the Bottlehead Beepre2. I am open to suggestions on other preamps that might fit the bill (New or used).
I have Altec 604e speakers, paramount 2a3 tube amps, DSP subs (so would prefer a sub out or can use a splitter).
Shindo
Pros - great looks, a quality hand built product, should have great synergy with Altecs. Great resale value.
Cons - can’t think of any other than no remote (I don’t use mine much, so..)?
Bottlehead
Pro’s - has built a great name for themselves with their amazing kits. Is upgradeable/customizable.
Cons - you have to build it? There are future upgrades one can buy; not sure all are stated.
