I have been without my main system for about 3 months now while remodeling.
Today I completed the our music room and am ready to set up my rig again
I thought I will start a system thread and add photos as it comes together over the next week or so.

This was this morning before I did the baseboard trim.

And ready for gear, I am jonesing for some Altec love...

Very nice room. Can’t wait to see it all setup, but also understand the undeniable pull of happy hour on the weekend. ;)

Looks awesome! I bet you are stoked to get your gear setup and start rocking!

Today I am cleaning up components and putting things back in place.

First up my 825 cabinets with 416 8a drivers.
I bought these from guy with 4 pairs in a locker , they all had 421 8 LF Stanley Screamer labeled drivers and were from a touring sound system of past use.
I spent time making them pretty, did some internal braces and filled the horn flares with sand. Needless to say, these bad boys are heavy.
I experimented a ton with the port size and tried way too many combinations.
Ended up with the stock opening size but made my own grill cover .

Horns are 805B with 299 8a drivers.
The horns were a bit beat up as I am a cheap sob and bargin hunter...
I patched and pounded, added a thick layer of auto body seam sealer for extra damping and painted them matte black
The tweets are B&C BE 10-8 mylar diaphragm horns. I like them a lot and they are dirt cheap to boot.
Pardon the temporary wood pads under the front

Being a child of 70's vinyl never left me, I stuck with it through the missing years.
Pre house fire had over 1200 lps collected since childhood.
This Lenco PTP ply plinth was built with a few borrowed tools after my fire. It has provisions for 9 and 12 inch arms.
I had a Mayware formula 4 with Acutex at first while awaiting my Shcick stick.
No need to go back to the other arm. )
Someday it may get a face lift now that I have a workshop with some decent tools.

Phono pre is a point to point Ear clone built by a friend and audio mentor.
It was basically his interpretation of a no expense spared build.
It is very detailed and has a big sound stage.
The two octal sockets are for transformers or sockets to by pass with mm cartridge.
I am currently using Altec 4722 SUT 's

gotta love battleship grey!

Great room, man!

Aways admired the PTP Lencos. Mine still has its original top plate, though it's modified in other ways. I love it, though unfortunately mine is Schick-less.

My first was an original L70 Bogen. I put dynamat type damping under the top plate and in the platter. It sounded great.

Really nice gear. I'm sure it sounds wonderful. A few questions:
How id you make your octal transformer jumpers?
What did you do about the very different load when switching between SUT transformers and no transformers?
The angle of the horn seems steep. How did you arrive at the correct angle?

Beautiful stuff!

Last first.... ) There is a little more to come and the angle will change, although it sounds pretty good right now.
The speaker binding posts are for loading resistors.
