Couldn’t wait to give the A-2001 a listen. I swear the Japanese domestic market iteams were built better. Even has extra feet under the damn Transformer for added stability? And it sounds absolutely ridiculously awesome.

And just found out that not only was the Transformer swapped. But the amp was recapped/ gone through! So my calculus may change. The only change I may look into is the Speaker connectors as they are more suited towards bare wire connectors. Which are just not my thing.

There are some things afoot here and a few additions that I am hoping for in the coming days to weeks. I have been keeping it closer to the vest these days as I am never sure what to expect. But the system as it sits now. And a pic of the listening position.

I have to button up the cabling but I am just not motivated this morning. Just letting the classic Soul and R&B play list play. While running the system through its paces, I just have the biggest smile on my face. Wish I could put my finger on what is different this time around. I am just so satisfied with the way this turned out. As expected, the Grand Integra gear is pairing together oh so nicely. It sounds spectacular and enjoyable. This system is just whimsical and fun.

Meters, more meters and EQ graphics! With not quite audiophile direct connections and long runs of cables? I joke that I turned in my Audiophile card with this build. I most assuredly did. In its place I managed to put on a hobbyists/enthusiast hat. It’s a better and more sustainable fit. And all the while, inspite of all that, landed on good sound also. Somehow I managed to find harmony between the neurotic collector, irrational Audiophool and that young man who saw systems only others could afford with a little bit of envy.

I am literally one piece away from completing this build. It has been acquired and I am simply awaiting it in the mail. It will be sure to impress some (probably just me), it is quite special, well for the nouveau Vintage fans among us.

So the M-508 amp is off to the same wizard that worked magic on the A-G10 Integrated amp. I am going to go all out and restomod it in the same vein as the Integrated and CD player. My hope is that I can not only mod the cost cuts out but improve it here and there. I am excited for the final product and committing to staying with it for the long haul. These mods are labors of love that you almost never recoup moniteraly. The Final piece to the puzzle arrives on Monday! It is already all sorted and I am so looking forward to its arrival. I will post it here for you my captive audience!
