Prime Minister Builds a Raspberry Pi4. (Otherwise Known as Raspberry Pi for Idiots)

Gotcha .
will download.
Note there is a setup guide, though I've seen lots of ingrate complainers complain about it, acting as if they had paid something for the software (they hadn't) and are due some in depth owners manual of some sort.

Worth taking a look at, and if something is unclear, we of course have several Moode aficionados here that can answer any setup questions.

I suggest starting with a temporary Ethernet connection, then setup for WiFi.

And Moode will talk to Audirvana in some way?

Yes over UPnP, so you would use the following configuration (click the little M at the upper right-hand corner for the menu drop down):

Audio -> UPnP/DLNA -> UPnP Client for MPD -> ON (give it a name) -> SET

Turn all other Renderers OFF, and also turn the DLNA Server in Moode OFF (Audirvana is your server and is far superior in that regard).

In the MPD config:

EDIT -> Audio Output -> USB Audio (or the DAC's name if it self reports it) -> SAVE

EDIT -> Volume Control -> Disable -> SAVE

@MikeyFresh Your gentle coaching is incredibly generous. I’ve never hesitated to edit a registry with decent instructions. You almost have me convinced to try an RPi.

Is this good for Roon too?

No Moode does not have a Roon Bridge mode, although I've heard the Squeezelite Renderer mode works with Roon but I've never personally tried it and don't know what is involved on the Roon Core (server) end, probably just a few clicks.

If you want a distro that easily switches back and forth between Roon Bridge and DLNA/UPnP, that would likely be RoPieeeXL. I personally prefer to just get another microSD card and swap it out that way, but YMMV.

I'm just thinking for experimentation purposes. Compare Roon to Audirvana during the test period.

Easiest with RoPieeeXL, unless someone wants to chime in on use of Squeezelite with Roon.

I can't imagine it's difficult, probably just a few clicks, I know that to be the case in switching Moode's Renderer modes.

Moode, it seems to just sound the best according to most. A sweet sounding combo with Audirvana for sure.

I don't suppose you'd had any experience comparing Moode with PiCorePlayer have you? That's what I'm currently using...

No I have not, I don't use LMS or Squeezelite, my server and endpoints run DLNA/UPnP.

But it's so easy to compare with Raspberry Pi. Just order another microSD card, etch a Moode image to it, and set it up as a Squeezelite Renderer, swap that card into the RPi and give it some listening time, see if you agree with many others that Moode has that certain something going on with regard to sound quality.

Or, if you have another room or "Zone" that can benefit from adding an endpoint, then order another RPi, enclosure, power supply, and microSD card, and give Moode a whirl that way. Just add it to your existing setup, you don't have to get rid of the piCorePlayer unit.

One thing I know piCorePlayer does that I'm not sure Moode does is act as both a LMS and a Squeezelite Renderer at the same time. So it can serve files to itself as a renderer/endpoint. Someone using Moode with Squeeze would have to test that, it could be unique to the pCP distro, not sure if that's what you are doing, or if that is attractive as a feature.
