I've tried the reboot thing a couple times.
Moved the antennas on my Netgear nighthawk AC1750 router.
Unplugged the RPi for a while. Fast flashing light stays fast.
My network does not see it.

I bet it's updating, that's the same issue that @marantzfan had a week or so ago. It was a big update and took a fair amount of time to resolve.

That fast flash is what the unit does on initial setup, and I bet it also does that during an update.

@Srx posted a how-to on setting up control parameters for when the unit is allowed to update, so that you aren't kept from listening to music at a critical moment (eg. house party or other time when you don't want to be fussing with it).

When you dial up the web GUI does it look like this:

The fast flashing eventually went to slow. Moved it into the same room as the router and still nothing.
I connected it to my router via cable and it still isn't seen on the network. I type in the address and nothing. Removed and re-installed the SC card too.
Re-write the RoPieeXL on the card? Or should it at least still be seen?

Maybe, it's possible if you had previously unplugged it during a write sequence in updating that the card is now corrupted.

Forget Roon for the moment, you can't even access it from the web GUI? If not, then either the router gave it a new/different IP, or the card is corrupted and you need to reflash it.

Nope not even direct with the web gui.

Sounds like it might have been updating at a point when power was cut, or for some other reason the card is corrupted, I highly doubt it is an actual WiFi hardware issue with the board.

I guess go ahead and reflash the card, you probably don't even have to wipe it first or anything, just use Etcher and reflash the image.

Reflashed. Still nothing. Not seen at all on my network. Weird. Well darn.
Etcher said everything was good when I did it..

I did. I have it now on the GUI. Was clicking on the standard PoPieee address not the XL. Will see if this does the trick.
Got it, I suggest also reconfigure the update schedule so there are no surprises there.

I don't like things to update of their own free will at some arbitrary time as that leads to unintentional interrupts or power cycles during an update that can corrupt the card. Thats probably what happened.

Yeah, who knows, right? Tech for ya.
It didn't really work (Roon didn't see it) until I disconnected it and moved it back to my lounge using wifi. I checked my routers interface to see if it saw it and it is. now it seems to be fine.
While I'm thinking about it, are there any adjustments needed in the RopieeeXL settings beyond enabling wifi that I need to do?

And thanks Mikey.

Yes, as I mentioned earlier, @Srx had provided some screen shots, I linked to that in Post #88.

You should arrange that there are no surprise updates occurring where you might not realize it, and pull the power plug during a disk write. That will very likely corrupt the image, so scheduling the updates to occur only when you want them to is a good idea.

@MikeyFresh - you don't happen to know if IanCanada is still making/selling his IsolatorPi II, do you? Trying to find one for this (eventual) CM4 build.

I don't even remember what the difference between the original and the Mk. II version was, because he built the isolator function into the FIFOPi, which is what I bought from that 2019 group buy on diyAudio.

He typically had leftovers from each GB for quite some time, so it wouldn't surprise me if he did still have the IsolatorPi II available, especially since Audiophonics in France still has it as a current in-stock item.

I suggest contacting Ian to see if he has any leftover, as his current 2020GB doesn't list it, but his GitHub still does. I'll PM you his email address.

Well, according to PiShop, they are starting to get CM4 / IO4 boards trickling in, but still no ETA on when I'll get my particular SKU. :(

Hopefully not too much more wait, although it is uncharted waters with regard to Raspberry Pi and all of those different permutations, each being a different SKU. They've never done that before so it could be slow going in the beginning.

Yeah. And I got a low-to-mid variant, so that probably pushes me down the list a bit.

I thought the StationPi in IanCanada's recent group buy on diyAudio looked interesting in terms of integrating something in one box, however I'm not sure how it might work (or not) with the CM4/IO4, or a HAT-based DAC:

OK. We have some movement on the CM4 front - turns out there is a shortage / availability issue with the wireless SKUs for some reason. However, I was able to get the non-wireless version with the 16GB eMMC storage and 1GB RAM (instead of the wireless, 2GB, no eMMC version I originally spec'd) for the same price, so it's en-route. Hopefully I'll have my grubby little paws on them by Friday and can start futzing about with the build (breadboard first - chassis to follow) using the IanCanada's IsolatorPi 2 / Millet linear USB PSU combo between the CM4 IO board and the HiFiBerry Digi+PRO (CM4 IO uses a 12VDC wall-wart PSU).

I may not have been able to get an RTX 3000-series video card or an Xbox Series X, but dammit, I'll have a CM4 to play with!
