DIY SE 46 Build

Do It Yourself
Was just listening to mine last night.

Well within your abilities to DIY! You just need a couple of 46s. Happy hunting!
That's gonna have to wait for a bit - we got hit with a rather large IRS bill this year and our daughter is heading to Carnegie Mellon in the fall, so it's going to be beer-budget Derek for a little while.

Sorry to hear that...C-M, fine school, congrats! Cheers to a brighter future!

And when it rains, it pours. Our 8-month old puppy needs to have both knees rebuilt due to a congenital defect with his ACLs. Dammit.

So…. I want to do something simple, low parts count and all that.

I saw on @je2a3 blog for the Simple 46 where he quoted @Salectric about the use of the Edcor XPWR 258-120 in his own build providing spot on voltage in a LCLC setup.

So, here is where I get to flash my ignorance. Would it be feasible to use the power supply section (minus the OD3 regulator and filament transformer sections) from @Salectric build in the JE Labs Simple 46?

Photos of both schematics for reference.

@Salectric PM'd me a couple of weeks ago that he tried the 7B4>46 topology. He probably used that Edcor power transformer and can give better details on how he configured the PS.

I you need to order from Edcor, be prepared for a long wait. I'm at 9 weeks for a non-custom unit. I'm regretting not spending the extra bucks for Monolith power transformers.

You aren’t kidding.

I already bought the transformer. Ordered it back on May 9th and it just came in yesterday. Now I just need to figure out how to incorporate it.
