the TIC gang think the 101 is better than the 101A: Tuner Information Center - Shootouts
hopefully this one is in OK shape.
btw, there are JE Labs 300b monoblocks still for sale for a grand...
Kicked around the idea of the 300b’s but no shots of the underside. Doesn’t look to have any special parts.

The OPTs look like late 90s big Hammond I wasn't very fond of. Those rolled off around 12kHz and exhibited serious ringing. The cheaper 125ESE didn't produce as much bass but except for a single defective sample I tested, these had much smoother high frequency response, thus better overtones and midrange performance.300b’s are gone....(not me).

Thought about the Sony but cosmetics aren’t on par with what I’d like.Congrats on the FT101!
I noticed a fine Sony and Teac direct drive turntable there.
I've had the Etude in my main system for quite a few years now and love it.

Funny how the MD tuners get such divisive reviews. My Etude works beautifully and sounds terrific.Probably would have passed on the MD.. nice price on the SAE 8000/MK8.. Not a bad tuner.
Ouch. How was the packing job?UPDATE
Now it stopped working. Still lights up and shows the digital station readout but stereo beacon doesn’t light up and no sound. If I turn it off and let it sit and then turn on again it will work for a few seconds and then stop.
Could be heat related or some part just died...
Will pop the hood over the weekend. I could send it back to MD for overhaul; would be $300 plus shipping each way.
good packing jobOuch. How was the packing job?
