picked up a Magnum-Dynalab-FT-101 at estate sale

300b’s are gone....(not me).
The OPTs look like late 90s big Hammond I wasn't very fond of. Those rolled off around 12kHz and exhibited serious ringing. The cheaper 125ESE didn't produce as much bass but except for a single defective sample I tested, these had much smoother high frequency response, thus better overtones and midrange performance.

Hey, arrived today 👍

The ad said the meters are loose and they used painters tape on them for shipping. Will see how bad they are; may have to glue them.
Was missing one foot. Luckily I have a few sets in my stash (I think the ones I am using are Dynaco feet).
I cleaned the top plate and used some black magic marker on the dent in the front plate.
Now to hook it up and let it run a bit.

well, it works! the signal strength and center signal meters don't work. it does tune in the 3 stations i care about and the alignment seems to be correct. will run it for a while and see what happens as it warms up.

anyone with experience fixing those meters please chime in :)

UPDATE
Now it stopped working. Still lights up and shows the digital station readout but stereo beacon doesn’t light up and no sound. If I turn it off and let it sit and then turn on again it will work for a few seconds and then stop.
Could be heat related or some part just died...
Will pop the hood over the weekend. I could send it back to MD for overhaul; would be $300 plus shipping each way.

Ouch. How was the packing job?

i popped the top. nothing visually amiss. until i learn how to use a scope or my local tech is back in business my options are limited. i sent an email to MD re their upgrade program. will see if they take in wounded warriers like my 101. the good news is i still have the box from receiving it so can box it back up in a jiffy.
