Need smaller speakers- where to go, what to do?

Hey, why don't you swing on by and pick up the Kites. They aren't being used right now. Plus, I can lend you some really nice stands, full of audiophile kitty litter.
Why aren’t they being used?

And that WAS the audiophile kitty litter. Clay! You’d laugh if you’d seen what a pain it was to get it in them. What a mess!

You didn’t hear? @prime minister went to the dark side and is jamming to some Altec duplexes!:p;)……on a serious note, I had the same question for him.

The audiophile kitty litter came out of the stands easily. All over the trunk of my car. I was collecting pieces for months.

They are resting right now. The Graaf is being messed with currently, so the old Shearwaters got dragged upstairs temporarily.

You were supppsed to carry them upright sticking out of the sunroof.

Love that Daytona, PM.

Years ago a friend had a Daytona coupe (serial # 13) that I was very familiar with. I once drove it with him from my previous home in Glenview, IL to Elkhart Lake WI, for a Historic Race weekend. I was too scared to drive it on the track though as it's value at the time far exceeded that of my house. In retrospect, the drive up there was probably far more dangerous on a Saturday morning through all the small town traffic than "touring" on the track. Later that day we did got to "dice it up" (touring style) with Phil Hill riding in the lead car, the latest greatest model. Although we arrived late to the grid before getting on the track We were waved in right behind him at #2 in the queue in a Ferrari-only feature display for 10 or so laps.

After about 5 laps we switched cars with another friend. He had a Testarosa which was far more civilized and had much better brakes than the Daytona which was referred to by it's owner as a "sports truck" due to it's "vintage" components, particularly the brakes. But the "ripping canvas" noise and abundant cam noise from it's V12 was something I'll never forget.

But I digress and I hope this doesn't sound like I'm boasting but I think about that once in a lifetime experience every time I see a Daytona.

Salk Sound had some incredibly nice sounding bookshelf speakers at a meet I was at. Fairly expensive but maybe worth investigating. I'll see if I can find a little more about them.

If that was the meet at Ken Guindon's in Port Huron, and you are referring to the set up in the second listening room, I believe those were Salks Active Speakers.

As an owner of a pair of Salk's speakers, I can say he is a master of appearances and his sound is pretty good too!
These are my speakers before I picked them up

I'm really leaning towards Reference 3A the more that I think about this. I think with a pair of those in this small-ish room I can finally realize my dream of using the Leben CS-300 as my amp, switching it out with the Luxman L-507u... or moving the Luxman to my other system and parting with the lesser sounding but cool looking and fun to use HK The Citation Receiver.

That should be a magical combination. Beryllium tweeter, or the earlier fabric dome?

I've preferred that latest versions that I've heard over earlier ones. They've actually sounded like completely different speakers (to my ears). The MM de Capo Be or whatever its called.

And all of this discussion could be for naught if I'm able to cram my Harbeths in the room. I've been too busy with other parts of the move to even think about the stereo.

One of my all time favourite speakers. They aren't tiny though.

I've wanted a pair of DeCapo MM Be's for a few years. I heard them up on the wall at Dove's Luncheonette — right under the blue line in Chicago and I've wanted to hear them in my room. I think they could replace the Harbeth's someday.
