I really like the look of that. Cosmo's tent is great as well! Are you getting funky reflections off the side glass, or do you sit close enough it isn't much of an issue?View attachment 39018
Cramming things in. Cabinet arrived from California.

Yeah when they’re back that far I get a bass cancellation but if I move them out and ahead of the cabinet things improve greatly.I really like the look of that. Cosmo's tent is great as well! Are you getting funky reflections off the side glass, or do you sit close enough it isn't much of an issue?
You call that a tree? That's not a tree. This is a tree.Your speakers are for 365 days per year, right? How many days per year will you have a Christmas tree?
So if you have to shrink either the tree or the speakers, which will it be?
In my opinion, when it comes to speakers, you just can't fall short of a certain size without falling short of sound quality.
When it comes to Christmas trees, why not consider a Bonsai? You wouldn't have to buy a new one every December, just put some new Bonsai candles on it and you're done.

Yes, I do! And the one I posted will hopefully still be a living tree a few weeks after Christmas, while the one you showed will most probably be a dead tree soon. You call that a tree? That's not a tree. This is a tree.
Lamp cord, longs runs of lamp cord.View attachment 39318
The speakers have now made it to the living room, though how’ll they’ll end up connect to the amp on the other side of the room is still a mystery.
I supposed you could wire a lamp with the long runs of Audioquest wire I usually use for such things. Also don't tell anybody but I totally bought lamp cord for the speakers in my wife's system. It was a similar dilemma with the speakers relatively far away from the amp and the wire having to go over a door sill and match the white trim.Lamp cord, longs runs of lamp cord.
which speakers are these? and are they ones you had or smaller ones you bought (per the theme of the thread)? i scrolled back a few pages but could not find what you decided to go with.I supposed you could wire a lamp with the long runs of Audioquest wire I usually use for such things. Not like you can run the wires through the baseboard and across the basement ceiling (done that one before). The apartment below probably wouldn't appreciate it much. I'm going to have a similar problem when my system moves to the opposite side of my study at some point as I'll probably have a 15' run to deal with. At least I can hide it easily enough, plus the only person to really see any of it is me.View attachment 39318

They're the result of this thread, Dynaudio Special 40s that I bought from AudioThesis. Very nice speakers.which speakers are these? and are they ones you had or smaller ones you bought (per the theme of the thread)? i scrolled back a few pages but could not find what you decided to go with.
I've only been able to deal with the small room issue by placing the speakers across a corner which cleaned things up entirely, but I don't see that working in your sunroom. Lovely looking living room, BTW! I've always been enamoured of the speak on either side of the fireplace thing. They're the result of this thread, Dynaudio Special 40s that I bought from AudioThesis. Very nice speakers.
The twist is: I wanted small speakers than my Harbeths so that I could move my system to a small-ish sunroom without the stereo just dominating the room. AND.... when I got everything hooked up, the glass on three walls and small rectangular shape of the room created reflections that killed the soundstage and cancelled out the bass. Along the way I'd already decided that the living room needed something, so it all worked out (or will, hopefully).
I still have the Harbeths, they're just stored.
interesting twist. so at some point down the road you can decide whether you prefer the 40s or the harbeths. good luck getting great sound in the new setting. They're the result of this thread, Dynaudio Special 40s that I bought from AudioThesis. Very nice speakers.

Thank you. Actually my wife talked me out of selling the Harbeths. "You love those speakers! Just put them in the basement, maybe we'll figure the place out more and they'll fit." She's a pretty good catch.interesting twist. so at some point down the road you can decide whether you prefer the 40s or the harbeths. good luck getting great sound in the new setting.
that is truly great. you are fortunate.Thank you. Actually my wife talked me out of selling the Harbeths. "You love those speakers! Just put them in the basement, maybe we'll figure the place out more and they'll fit." She's a pretty good catch.
I'm so relieved, for a minute I thought I was going to have to get a new hobby.Good lookin' space, man. Happy listening.
(SACDs FTW)
the reflection on that chrome front plate is spectacular.Doing a test run in the living room before I get around to figuring out the long-wire situation. Luxman L-507uMk2 against T+A a1530 and the Redboy Autoformer Volume Control.
I was prepared for the T+A/AVC winning, but not with how easily they walked away with it. It wasn’t really a contest. About 15 seconds into the first song on the pre/amp combo I knew. The once former and now current “main system amplification” regains it’s title in a knockout first round.
The Luxman will replace the HK Citation Receiver in my dining room, or sit on the bench.

^^ quite a pile of gear there. Shootout done with Emm Labs CDSA playing SACDs as source.
I auditioned that amp in black and debating buying it, despite loving the sound. “There’s also a chrome one.” “yeah. Chhhrome”. “Sold”the reflection on that chrome front plate is spectacular.
