We had our traditional "January thaw" late last week.
From a foot or so of snow on the ground and overnight lows ca. -20 degrees F to heavy rain and a high near 60 degrees F in the space of two days late last week.
One of the (ahem) knock-on effects of such weather is the break-up of stream and river ice, which then piles up and forms ice jams... with predictable results.
Route 12A along the Connecticut River was closed for a day or so, and at least one poor person had to be rescued from water (and poor judgement) Saturday
Someone posted drone footage from around the Cornish (NH)- Windsor (VT) covered bridge -- the longest covered bridge in the US*
