Compare & Contrast: Bearing wells from LP12, ROK B12H & Gates CB77

For your consideration. Bearing wells from the Linn LP12, Rek-O-Kut B12H, and the Gates CB77.

Not the best shots, but a couple of interiors.

You can make out the polished thrust plate in the bottom of the Linn bearing well, despite the blurriness. The contact tip of the Linn bearing shaft is hemispherical and polished as well. After 35 years, mine has yet to show any damage. But then again, it hasn't seen much use over the past 19 years. The Gates (and the ROK) have their thrust plate at the bottom of the bearing shaft, and ride atop a ball bearing which sits in the cup at the bottom of the well.

Cheers,
James

I guess I was just applying the names in the order the bearings appear from left to right? I had to go and pull the platter up on my B-12H to compare. You know, I was conflating the visual appearance of the bearing in my TD-125 with the dimension of the Gates. Silly me! It would made sense that the Gates would have by far the biggest of everything!

Gates bearing... :dance
