Also... I fell off the wagon. I'd been doing really well not buying new stuff, but this great deal came up on a Parasound A21 to match my P5 in my 2nd/3rd system and I bit the bullet. I had purchased one used and it was poorly packed and wound up arriving with bent heatsink fins so it went back to the seller for a refund. This one was packed much better by the seller.

I had been using some Wyred 4 Sound MAmps in the mean time, and they are really good — but will be up for sale shortly.

I really like Parasound gear. These might get traded in eventually for the new HINT6 integrated... but I really like the combo in the mean time. They are hooked to my Tekton Design Pendragons.

#MeToo

I like to over power any speaker I have in the system, that and rock out once in a while. While I have some lower powered tube gear it has to be matched with speakers that it can at least equal their power. I got to have headroom and the speed of a big amp to produce all the transient peaks

How about MC501s driving one pair of JBL L250's
And a MC 402 driving JBL 250 Ti's
You can see the SPL in the vid as the beat blurs the video....

Those were one of the best JBL's ever made IMHO.

I also like big amps, my speakers like the high current of my Parasound Hca-3500,

That is the prettiest Parasound gear I have seen.

I do recall the first time I heard the JBL 250s. At Scotty’s stereo in Toronto. I was in buying a Harman Kardon pm645 integrated amp. They had just got the 250s in, and the sales guy wanted to show them off. Sure made an impression on 18 year old me. But they were some insane amount of money, like $2500 or something.

Love the shelving unit Woody. Did you make it? 4-2-7 - I enjoy lestening to your stereo through my ipad. As well as the look/“scientific intrument” styling of the older Mac gear. I can only imagine what it sounds like in person. :Boom

That's some kit there Colin. Nowhere near as pretty as the Parasound though that wouldn't bother me much. I'll wager they'd rock my IMFs.
But what of the John Curl stuff? Im told he’s a highly regarded engineer but unfortunately I’ve never managed to listen to any of his products.

I cannot lie either. There ain't no substitute for juice.

Twin 5x400 Watters, Hypex UcD400s. Three power supplies per side.. 4KW total. So, ummmm........5 horsepower. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Use 'em to drive a five driver four way. One amp per driver. When wifie-pie sees them hooked up she runs :-)

A pair of -34dB earplugs, in conjunction with a pair of -31 dB ear muffs, like one would wear on the shooting range, gets her close to -65 dB. That ought to be close, even for your foot on the throttle of those speakers.

Another big amp fan here:
