All things JBL

The quad set of 4430s sold out shortly after I sent the message (for 3k). Although I wouldn’t mind having a set I would really love to have 4435s!
Please do tell what’s on the horizon.:D

That, my friend, will be a surprise that will have to wait until I am 100% sure that everything has come together. ;)

Any hints? (4435’s?:D)
Sadly none in my immediate future, picking up a quad set of JBL4412’s; woe is me...

So I’ve heard that if you post on Audiogon wanting 4435’s, you will get a seller....thinking if doing this but have to sell off a few items.

JBL 4435s have been, and are, on my "bucket list" of speakers to own when, and if, the opportunity presents itself.

From my experience with the 4430s, the 4435 will require the CazTech SET845 (or one of the PP) amps to bring out their best.

So while working on the duplex project, my JBL 4410’s had been begging to be cosmetically restored (the prior owner wasn’t too careful with the cabinets). Some belt sanding, palm sanding and hand sanding (along with a good amount of putty), rendered a much more appropriate look to the wonderful rich sound they produce.
This is just one of those sets of speakers that you just don’t get rid of and if you do, you give them to someone who will really appreciate them.

So I finished the 4410 project a short while back and currently have them as a temporary living room system. I’ll post pics if requested.

What got me back on this thread was the travesty I found when searching YouTube for Kenrick sound videos. Apparently they gutted his entire page with all associated videos (copyright material....). Bummer!

Not sure if you knew but I landed some 4435’s. “May” consider selling them.

Giving the 4435’s a whirl today on raised stands, bringing the horn up to ear level finally. These are fun speakers, very musical and versatile (not a one trick/genre pony). The more power you feed them the the more effortlessly they produce audible pleasure.

How do they sound with the horn at ear level? Is the bass any tighter with them raised?
Actually when I raised them off the floor the highs weren’t as fatiguing and everything was much more cohesive. The lows were definitely tighter.
Kind of embarrassing but I realized I was running my integrated solid-state amp with the loudness level at 12 o’clock. This increased the bass response to ridiculous levels that shook the walls two or three rooms over in my house. When I adjusted the loudness back to a flat setting, the speakers became less like a clobbering thug and more like limber gymnast. More detail and musical fluidity if you will (And closer to my 604’s).
