If you post over at AA....

Are you kidding me!?! I once went to lunch with Doc Hardy and he just about boxed me around the ears for saying that "Hypochondria is the powerhouse of cells" and "Great open baffles, my Thrusters are louder tho." I still don't know what triggered him. Kidding aside, I quite liked Audio Asylum...

    Autumn in (Northern) New England

You are more than welcome to come up and peep the leaves all you want. That's why NH and VT take such care of their highways.

    Guardian Article

My guess is it's the hunt for the new and exciting. I got in that habit from DJ days, when I would scan for music to build playlists. Forward to 1/3 into the song, find the drop, scrub to halfway to hear the buildup... maybe exit. That turned into a similar habit with itunes, dang I could...

Interesting article, I definitely agree with the premise. I do think it's funny that mp3 is considered a 'legacy' format. https://www.theguardian.com/music/2022/sep/27/theres-endless-choice-but-youre-not-listening-fans-quitting-spotify-to-save-their-love-of-music

I used AI to generate hifi systems

Ooohh, Mark, wait until you see my Halloween series! The thing that got me started was someone did a prompt of 'a group of witches waiting to fly to a conference, sepiatone, 1886'. The result was incredible. I used that as a starting point, and the images are...haunting and surreal in a most...

I used AI to generate hifi systems

I've been dismissing the hype about Stable Diffusion, the text-to-image art generation system, until I saw a sepiatone photo that just blew me away. Because of this, I built the AI on a workstation at home, and I've recently turned to creating vintage hifi systems. While there is a raging...

Artemis 1 -Countdown to the Countdown - May 2022

My dad worked on the Apollo space program. I remember him once telling me about the launch of Apollo 8. He had quit smoking a year or more previously in order to buy an encyclopedia set (I still have it), but he said that the excitement and the sheer physical sound waves "like a hundred big...

The Poor Man’s Bluesound Node Thread

Oh! My mistake. I mixed up BlueNote products and, after 5 pages, still somehow failed to realize we were talking streaming. Derp derp derp.

The Poor Man’s Bluesound Node Thread

My music server is an old Apple Mac Mini (no idea which one, but it was about $100). I run Qobuz and Audirvana, and now Swinson. Kids use Tidal and Spotify. I use connect directly to the DAC of my Peachtree Audio amp via USB. Nice thing is that Audirvana (v2.5) has a remote app, I can control...

    Computer-related question - multi-drive enclosure suggestions?

Yes, my current setup is a Mac Pro trashcan (soon to be downgraded to Mojave), a work-issued Macbook Air M1 (I loathe this machine) and the Thinkstation. I'm typing this on a 2013 MacbookAir, which remains wonderful.

Artists open up John Peel's historic vinyl collection

WOW, that is cool! Some of my greatest music comes from songs downloaded from a John Peel website long ago. The man was brilliant and helped so many new artists.
