    Bipole speakers

Thanks for your suggestions. I have since moved on to spherical enclosures for the bipole up and down firing mid bass and tweeter pod. I like it much, much more.

    Hello from UK

Pic of my preamp. It's just silver wire and two resistors per channel to make a couple of potential dividers in shunt configuration. That's it. I can't change the volume but it is the ultimate in purity. It's just tacked on the end of my CD player for now. I will make a stepped attenuator...

    Bipole speakers

Thanks. Had a lot of fun over the last few years messing about with diy speakers. I have tried isobaric with 12" drivers, bipole with 6.5" and a few or variations but the bipole with 5.25" works the best in my small room. I use some very cheap Chinese kevlar drivers which have big magnets (high...

    Hello from UK

Thanks for the welcome. I will start with my CDP. A much modified Naim CD3.5 I bought new in 1997 and still going strong on the original laser 24 tears later. I added three power supplies just for the dac, improved the regulators, added a fancy clock with dedicated psu and bypassed the anolog6e...

    Bipole speakers

OK, you asked for it. This pic was taken at my place of work (family farm) and is my old bedroom before I moved out. Hasn't been decorated since 1979 . I like the speakers set up across a corner as it seems to smooth out the bass modes in that small almost square room. The rack in the...

    Bipole speakers

Thanks for your interest. I have some photos but they are all of rough prototypes made of recycled chipboard lined with sheet steel. Not pretty but you will get the gist of it. I will post some up when I get a minute. Promise not to laugh :)

    Bipole speakers

Something I forgot to mention. I find the bipole design has other things going for it. You get baffle step compensation for "free" without the need for any components added. Even with this baffle step compensation I can position the speakers close to the walls and that is where I like them best...

    Bipole speakers

Hi, my second post. Any lovers of bipole speakers here ? I designed and made a pair but they are not the usual front and rear firing drivers. Mine have mid bass firing up and down with the down firing driver being 16" from the ground. I have four tweeters in a little pod which is sat on top of...
