ICE fans… it’s over. Elon moves on Hertz

None of the Teslas does much for me, the S looking the least ugly. The interiors... arrgghhh. I keep hoping some other technology matures in time to save us from a EV future to be quite honest. The ramifications of the batteries (raw materials/making/disposing) and charging infrastructure don't...

    Posting pictures from Flickr?

The "Share" tab has always worked here for me, but I think it is dependent perhaps on how one has it set up?

    Here’s your scent

I could go for one that combines a couple of scents - old tube RTR machine. Get the best of both worlds!

Do you believe that our hobby is splitting?

I miss you living across the river as well, believe me! we had a lot of adventures left in us... Yeah, those Tomita LPs are really something in terms of the soundscape. After I got the stepped attenuator in place of the problematic original volume pot in the Anthem it filled out even more. I'm...

Do you believe that our hobby is splitting?

That was actually mostly a pre-amp issue as it turned out, though I think I do get a bit of reflection of the A-77 and filing cabinet as well. The problem with not having a great dedicated listening space... gotta live and work in the room as well, sadly. One day I'm going to drag them up to the...

Do you believe that our hobby is splitting?

Of the speakers I have around here these days the de capos are the ones that do the disappearing act most and furthermore seem to do it no matter where I'm sitting in the room unless I have my ear practically up against the speaker. Kinda eerie, actually, this werid sense off peering into the...

Do you believe that our hobby is splitting?

Off-topic-on-topic - maybe you need to find some speakers with a wider "sweet spot" if that is how the system is going to be used most often?

How Good Can 8 Track Sound?

I saw one like this in a secondhand shop a couple of years ago, but couldn't quite get myself to make the leap.

Do you believe that our hobby is splitting?

I was just pondering the title of the thread - is our hobby splitting? I think it has always been split, first into those for whom it is a "hobby" and those for whom it is just tools for entertainment. Then in the 60s we increasingly saw a division into good quality "higher end" and "consumer"...

Do you believe that our hobby is splitting?

What I was attempting to say is that it seems to me that our subjective/intuitive judgements are scarcely spec/data shy, rather based on a different data set, procured through an alternative path.

Do you believe that our hobby is splitting?

I can't begin to tell you how many pieces of gear came home with me because I was supposed to love them, only to leave relatively shortly afterward when I did not love them. I've had a lot of gear I ended up loving come home just because it initially appealed to me in some visceral way. The...

Do you believe that our hobby is splitting?

To me the "objective" is helpful for sorting into some larger general categories, but from there my "subjective" ears take over.

New Member Post: Infinity EMIT Tweeter Remorse

Not long ago I recall speaking with someone who replaced the diaphragms in his EMITs successfully. Let me ponder who it might have been.
