    Opinions on subwoofers?

I’ve been using subs off and on for two ch for years and only until I got them dialed in using REW did I have a seamless integration. I had dual Velodyne HGS 12’s previously and now using a single JTR Captivator RS1, I didn’t have room for two of these beasts in my last house but in my new house...

Top Ten Speakers of the 20th Century - Haven Poll

A vote for Vandersteens, many people who haven’t set them up properly and provided enough clean current to them missed the boat on some of the best speakers for the money you can buy. But for those that have know they have something special 👍. Another vote (and I’m not sure they made these in...

I'm fed up with my AR-XA

That is true and has been a discussion before with when does a custom AR table stop being an AR. What I do know is the performance with these tables are incredible for the money, something I really didn’t expect when I first heard a stock one and further impressed when I heard a modded one...

I'm fed up with my AR-XA

For a fully modded XA with custom plinth it should cost you around $750 depending on the plinth, at that level your looking at performance with tables upwards of $2k new. Like I said earlier in this thread my XA isn’t embarrassed by my Nottingham table at all and it is significantly more...

I'm fed up with my AR-XA

Congratulations! Looks like a nice arm . Interesting you went with The Wand when earlier you said it wasn’t for you but something must have swayed your decision about it. Audiofreak71

I'm fed up with my AR-XA

Got to see it in person but imo as well as others that have seen it in person it’s a work of art. But it’s all subjective and just my opinion we all have different tastes but I’ve seen so many other AR’s that are works of art imo as well. Audiofreak71

I'm fed up with my AR-XA

I’m not a fan of how they look stock either but imo when modded they can be works of art. Operationally I can see the individual who doesn’t like manual everything, some just like fully automatic . So like you said there’s something for everyone and that’s one of the joys of this hobby Imo...

I'm fed up with my AR-XA

My motor in my XA is dead silent , it is housed in some sort of dampening housing though that is part of the Marc Morin treatment so maybe that is why? Audiofreak71

I'm fed up with my AR-XA

Your welcome to come over to my house anytime and see if your convinced after. At least that way you can say you’ve heard a fully modified ARXA against a (total retail with everything) $10k Nottingham Ace Spacedeck. Audiofreak71

I'm fed up with my AR-XA

No problem 👍 . Mine has the polished metal but you can get it in the flat non polished which brings the bling factor down a bit. I can tell you that you more than likely would notice a difference with the AM series 6 it’s that noticeable and that good , unbelievable the performance at the price...

I'm fed up with my AR-XA

Thank You. I feel the same about the XA’s arm , it isn’t the best looking but there is just something about it in person that’s appealing too. Mine has had all the upgrades with the jewel bearings , rewire, Texhinics wand etc and it tracks anything I throw at it. Also to add from earlier posts...

I'm fed up with my AR-XA

The Audiomods Series 6 is exceptional for the money, it can handle just about any cart and (imo) looks excellent too. Im currently running an Ortofon a90 with it and it tracks like it’s on rails. Highly recommended. Audiofreak71

I'm fed up with my AR-XA

I have owned my Marc Morin Modified ARXA 4yrs now , I have owned many tables before it (mostly newer) and it is an incredible performer for the money. I also have my reference table a Nottingham Ace Spacedeck with an Audiomods Series 6 arm and even though the Nottingham does sound better the XA...

That’s awesome. Retirement from the Army is great isn’t it?. 3 of my 4 kids are in the military, 2 Army 1 Air Force, so I get to see how the changes are happening in those branches through them, even though I still have some battle buddies that are still active. Yep I’m in the Pacific...
