Need help from the DIY crew. External remote volume control.

I can't find the exact video where he describes how he did it, but John DeVore added remote volume control to his very nice EMT preamp with an outboard motor control and an O ring. You can kind of see it (the small box above the EMT) in the background of this one. I'll look a little harder...

Laura Marling ~ Once I Was an Eagle

Odds that her album title is an answer to Bill Callahan's? (Probably not, but he's the first one I think of when I think of people who want to be eagles.)

I used Seidens (Redboy recommended) in my Slagleformer volume control, and I'm always glad that I did. They feel good, y'know?

    Behold the Treehouse System !

Everything looks really great, John. 👍 As I've written on these boards before, my room also dictates shorter stands (than are commercially available, at least) for the SHL5s. The ones that I knocked together a couple of summers ago are functional, but not all that beautiful. I've thought about...

I also think that the stands work well, at least in that pic. Here's hoping that you like what you hear with the speakers on them . . .

"I Was An Idiot for Selling That" - Gear You Wish You Hadn't Sold.

Leben CS-200P for me. I liked seeing "A motion sound" on the transformer cover whenever I went to flick its very satisfying switch. The Bedini 25/25 was a great sounding amp. But it ran so hot I was always afraid of it.

    Standalone Tonearm Pods?

Nice! I'd like that kind of store. I'll have to expand my searching--so far, all I've found are two Habitat Re-Stores, and they tend to have nothin'.

Nifty. Any tips for where a fella can get a steel collar like that?

My Seamaster is out for a crown tube repair. I hope that it won't be too offended when it comes back to find the GS here.

That last post is a hard act to follow (esp., for me, the GMT Master II and the JLC), but I have a new watch. The finishing on this Grand Seiko is pretty bonkers. The bevels on the handset and indices are so precise that they look outlined in the right light.

Echoing Thermionics' advice with a slightly different accent here. I think that VAS sells retipped (elliptical, hyperelliptical, microridge) DL-103s. I think that he lists them on eBay.

Nice! The color works well, I think. If you ever visit, you'll feel at home. Now we have vertical bookcases, FLOR, and sofas of the same color (though yours is a better design).

Ha! I think that my shelves are a combo of tall ones from DWR (back when they were selling the original, un-improved design) and shorter ones from The Container Store. Actually, I need another shelf these days, but the closest Container Store is an hour and a half away. Looks like your new...
