Unless one removes the internal electronics of speakers, is biamping (or triamping) even worth it?

So -- not to go all tinfoil-beanie on this discussion* but my knee-jerk, old-guy fear is that, as soon as the analog has been more or less completely removed from the signal reproduction chain, someone else** will be able to control "our" access to the content that makes all of the hardware...

saw a remarkable musician last night -- Senie Hunt

so... we saw Richard Thompson (one of my very favorites, full stop) at the Flying Monkey in funky Plymouth, NH* last night. Unusually, RT had an opening act; a local fellow (originally from Sierra Leone and now living in Concord, NH) called Senie Hunt. He's a guitarist, but he plays with an...

    Backyard birdies

Yes, the goldfinches are (finally) back -- we're getting on the order of 20 males out in those sumacs now and again, most every day. Re: the buntings -- Yes, yes they are. The funny thing is: Mrs. H saw the one, I grabbed the photo and snapped a few piccies with my trusty 70-300 mm VR zoom (an...

More horns, compression driver choices and opinions?

The ones here are actually rather ugly. But true Zen laziness can get one past that. 🧐

Yeah, Nagra's nice... but it's hard to beat a Charles King Stellavox :) (this one is, or at least was, Charles')... and it sounds at least as good as it looks. stella by Mark Hardy, on Flickr

More horns, compression driver choices and opinions?

I dunno, there's something appropriate about the distressed finish on these. Sort of like the pro photographers of old and their brassed pro-black finished cameras ;) Black. Brassed. Beautiful.

Oh, yeah, Technics (Panasonic). They still stand, don't they?! :)

Oh. I just realized that, with this acquisition, Sound United will most likely adapt a new corporate slogan. :smoke

My audio mess at this moment

On the other hand, I can think of at least a couple of ways by which the Christmas lights (fairy lights, as the Brits, IIRC, call 'em outside of the holidays) could also be the rabbit ear antennae. 😎

Onkyo and Pioneer brand acquisition pending

Well -- and far be it from me to be optimistic! 🤭 -- I think the present (at least) is a little more subtle than that. My impression is that small (tiny) companies are bubbling up from the bottom as large companies get agglomerated at the top. In audio, for every Sound United, there's a...

Comparing Budget Class T and Class D amps

Yup. I imagine that if that ASR person (Amir) tested cars, his criteria would be things like checking the lug nut torque(s) against the manufacturer's specification. He/she/they seem lost in the weeds of numbers.

My audio mess at this moment

The problem is that Boyle's Law (a/k/a The Gas Law) still applies, regardless of the size/shape/volume of the room. In essence: the amount of hifi stuff expands to occupy the space available to it. :smoke
