some British-themed automotive humour (as seen Someplace Else)

Utterly Obscure British Car Humour... I found many of them amusing -- here's a sample.

    Ultimate Audioshow Album Cliches?

Profound observation. My parents used to boil them into submission -- and they were nasty. Many years ago, I worked with a British expat, transplanted to the Silicon Valley. Of the philosophy of traditional English cooking, he observed: . :smoke

    Ultimate Audioshow Album Cliches?

Actually, I don't have an opinion about Holly Cole one way or t'other. I do think she is/was one of the audiophile darlings... but, heck... I like... Jennifer Warnes. Always have (since her days on The Smothers Brothers Show, in the 1960s). Women with glasses... :)

    Ultimate Audioshow Album Cliches?

Something about turntables brings out the worst in people -- or maybe brings out the worst people. Just go on any vinyl/turntable/analog forum and post one word. Hanpin. Easiest mode of trolling extant. Hanpin. Hanpin. Hanpin. maybe one Ya Horng for good measure. ;) And listen to some...

    Ultimate Audioshow Album Cliches?

I don't like much of anything about Ms Krall. She is an OK piano player, but I do not like her voice, her mannered singing -- heck, I don't even think she is particularly attractive. Best thing I can say about her is -- Elvis.

PartsExpress: Dayton "AIRs" -- what do y'all think?

So -- no back story for the moment, but I am smoke testing listening to a Lafayette KT-630 integrated amplfier on the AIRs. No kidding, this pairing sounds very good. The KT-630 is a very modest 1960s era LRE integrated amplifier kit; pp 6BM8 for perhaps, on a good day, 8 wpc (give or take)...

    Peter Thorkelson (Tork) has died

Speaking of Mr. Nicholson... source: Monkees Star Mike Nesmith Reveals All on Drugs, a Near-Crippling Illness, and Jack Nicholson 'Bromance' in New Memoir my apologies for the digression -- saw this photo -- KLH compact hifi, T-antenna and all and had to share it. I espy the first CSN albim...

    Peter Thorkelson (Tork) has died

and, slowly but surely, they (the Prefab Four, that is) extricated themselves and made their own rekkids. (from the back cover of Headquarters -- this image clearly not from the original ell-pee, though)

    I'll just leave this here

ok -- remember how in that song Love Will Keep Us Together, how on the fade-out, the backing vocalists sang ? Maybe in the 2019 reboot (on vinyl), they'd be singing :) No, I am not sure how the cadence would be worked out, but... apparently there's another DD deck springing from the brow of...

    Peter Thorkelson (Tork) has died

Just read this Someplace Else. Peter Tork of the Monkees Dies at 77 Both of these guys strove to become Monkees. One succeeded, not sure what ever became of the other guy, for what it's worth. ;)

    Everyone’s Hearing Is Not Different!

The album Lay It Down gets goin' in places :) The first time I saw them live, they ended the evening with a lively rendition (!) of Neil Young's Don't Let it Bring You Down that tore the roof of the place.

They coulda put a wig on it or something, you know? That's technically a pro Heresy, methinks. KP-201? I dunno, I get confused about the industrial morphs of the Klipsch Heritage products. Professional Equivalent to the Heresy Now, back to Margo... Margo Timmins is... well... words fail me...

Building a 6SN7 SRPP preamp kit.

I have developed an appreciation for 6SN7s. I think it's because, dollar for dollar, they're hard to beat for hifi use. Yeah, I do realize they're not as sexy as their pre-octal-base forebears. VinylSavor: Tube of the Month : The 6SN7 Just my completely empirical, non-scientific opinion.
