$2000 Doorway SET/HE Sounding System

Drivers not included in the $330 unfortunately, but I do love the system you created.
Guess I read the.page wrong. I thought I had selected the drivers.
I do think that would be nice starting system with some synergies

Has anyone heard these high efficiency speakers:
Zu Dirty Weekend
Blumenstein Orca + sub
Decware DM945
Sound Artist SC8B
Haven’t heard any of those and all would work. Personally, I want to hear a pair of Zu speakers. I’ve read reviews that are all over the board from love to hate but would like to form my own opinion.

How about these guys? I heard the smaller version in the past, and while good at some stuff, they were a bit lacking overall. Does the bigger driver improve things?

I was going to mention those Fostex folded horn kits, but, that's pretty DIY and the big thing; I have heard them sound incredibly good, AND incredibly bad - in the same room & system, over the coarse of 1 day! I just don't know what to make of them.

Zu, I've listened to several models in different systems and never liked them, at all. I was a long time ago and maybe the implementations weren't right (systems like this are all about good amp>speaker>room pairing), but you'd think demos where someone is trying to sell them would have the implementations right, or at least in the ballpark. Just not for me.

''The point of this exercise is to give those folks some of that experience, without having to sling solder on their own.
Indeed. As much as I miss the smell of rosin-core solder, I don't see myself designing (as I'm dumb as a bag of rocks) and assembling my own amp in a "serious" system of mine. I certainly wouldn't use one in my main system, mainly because I could never design anything or even assemble something on my own that would touch the sound I'm getting now. (Or I'm saying, far better and smarter minds than my own designed the components I use. 😉)

Yet I'm also really envious of anyone who can design, tweak and mold their own creations and make them sound so good. It amazes me when they "talk shop" with others and know a resistance value to properly get the best out of a particular tube, for instance.

I did the usual three years of electronics classes in high school but, outside of Ohm's Law and a rusty memory of resistor color codes and the basics of capacitance and inductance, again, I'm dumb as a concrete block when it comes to electronics these days. What I wouldn't give to have all of my old Heathkit textbooks from school! (Our teacher forged the way to get the Heathkit books, as they were far better than the typical 70s-era textbooks we used in our first year of electronics.) But the only things we wouldn't have learned about would have been vacuum tubes. Early 80s, it was passé to discuss them.

Sorry to ramble...

They are a complete kit, without any special tools needed. Plus, this is the new and improved (?) version.

I heard a pair of Zu sound absolutely wonderful. But this was going back 5 or 6 years now. When I asked the dude at the store about them, he said they were the absolute worst thing to set up. He messed with them constantly for a week, im a purpose built listening room that he knows very well.

I'll give this one a shot. It won't be wildly different than the rest of the crew, but here goes.

Decware DM945 Bookshelf Speakers
Decware SE84UF0
Chromecast & Tidal or Quobuz from your phone.

Elan Eaton or Oliver Sayes 45 Amp
Omega Super 3xrs Towers, Omega Super 7 Monitor or Omega Super 3xrs High Output Monitors
Raspberry Pi based Streamer

Custom Single Ended Amp from Custom Builder (preferably local)
Zu Omen DW or Tekton Lore
Bluesound Node 2i

Decware Zen Triode Integrated
Hornshoppe Horns
Chromecast

Bottlehead or Elekit (Kits)
GR Reasearch X-LS Encore - X-Static
One of the above Sources

Any of the Above Amps
Caintuck Betsy Baffle Speakers
U-Turn Audio, ProJect Debut III or Audio Technica AT-LP120 (all have built in phono stages)

These seem to be the main players that come to mind when I think of affordable single ended high efficiency gear.
