Those in Michigan know of the historic wind storm we had last Wednesday. Sustained tropical storm force winds. Lost power Wednesday afternoon. I have a generator for heat, lights, basic cooking and limited internet with the phones. I don't trust the generator to hook up more advanced electronics.

Power restored this morning and kicking back catching up with the forums and emails, listening to some Jazz on the radio and no drone of the generator to deal with.

As a friend once quipped, "Remember, you never lose power, you just lose electricity." :-) Glad you emerged unscathed (or at least it sounds that way).

Still generatoring here, alas. I did listen a bit yesterday, oscilloscope said the aux power was fine.

Hoping to be back on grid tomorrow...

Think my generator needs a tune up or I need a bigger one. I see the lights flicker when the frigs kick on. Coffee maker also draws quite a bit and the Microwave seemed to be about 1/2 power. 5000/6250 seemed big enough at the old place. Seem to need more here. Hopefully all will be back normal soon. I definitely know what you are going through.

A good friend lives 100% off of the power grid. He lives in the middle of nowhere and has to - there is no commercial power in the area.

Solar, wind, huuuuuuuge battery plant, generators, inverters, converters - it's really quite a production but works great.

I know Grumpy was still having power issues last time I checked. Glad to hear you are up and running again, Mike.

We lucked out and did not lose power, somewhat of a minor miracle as most of the area did. There were so many generators running around us that the drone in the house was actually bothering the wife. She kept thinking our refrigerator was making a new noise.

The sun was just barely up Thursday when the chainsaws started to add to the drone.

I was singing The Beatles Blackbird with my own lyrics that day.

Chainsaws running at the break of day
Hope that oily smell will blow away

And on the evening of the seventh day, power was restored! Behold the light! And the heat!

Happy to hear you're all getting it back. We got lucky, the day before the storm the electric company was here trimming the trees away from the wires, and did our side of the street. The storm came and the power went out across the street... and appears to still be out, though they're working on it daily. Back in the late nineties a hurricane took my power in VA for 10 days. It was in august so no worries about heat, and I remember it fondly actually as my father's kerosene lantern collection got passed around the family....
