53 years ago today at Watkins Glen

I was working I Chappaqua NY that summer or I would have attended.
My best friend whom I just saw last week in New York was driving OD victims to the med tent with his VW bug because they could get it through the crowds
He also told of a guy with giant cylinder of nitrous oxide hooked to a gas mask. $1.00 a hit.
Poeple would fall down, come to AMF pull out another dollar.

I had a kid who dishwashed for me in the early 80s whose father was a dentist. This kid kept a tankful in his car. He was pretty goofy to say the least.

I was there, 16 going on 17. I remember the soundcheck the day before. We were, no surprise, pretty far away from the stage. I still can’t quite believe my parents let me go.

Crazy, I asked my mother if she would drive a friend and me to the Goose Lake International Music Festival in Southeast Michigan when I was like 12 or 13. She asked us who we wanted to see, and we answered, "Chicago and Jethro Tull." She was like, "Oh, Chicago. They are really good, aren't they? Maybe we can make a day of it. I can make a picnic lunch, drop you two at the concert, take the little kids to the lake, and then pick you up after the concert."

Then she saw an ad for the three-day concert and was like: "No way, is Chicago playing at Midnight or something?"
