A big Hello from Hamilton ON Canada

I joined this very interesting group over a week ago. I've been quietly getting the lay of the land and I am very impressed (and somewhat intimidated) by the knowledge and impressive systems of the members.
I am a recently retired entomologist in Biology at McMaster University. So insects and music/audio are my two passions. (Yes, sometimes they come together, as I have many albums of insect sounds woven into (mostly) electronic music!).
The system that you see in my music loft is the result of components coming and going since 1978!
BTW, I only posted one time in the Hoffman forums when I helped ID some insects that a member had in his record sleeves (booklice in the Order Psocoptera).

Good to have another Bio guy on board, too! EEB here, though I never used the degree. One of my favorite classes ever was an aquatic insects course that I took at the U of MN's Itasca Biology station in Northern Minnesota... I still have my pickled specimens!

I must say I love those speakers of yours. What amps have you run them with?

What kinda details are you looking for PM (besides my equipment list)? So far I have only had 3 amplifiers hooked up to the shearwaters; an Audiolab 8000A (60w/ch), a two box Pro-Ject class D (80w/ch) and my present Atoll IN200SE (120w/ch). The Atoll is great. It's only weakness is the display which is kinda dim and has wonky pixels...

Yes! I really like his design philosophy. It just makes sense to me. Very similar to me liking Pat McGinty's design philosophy in speaker design. And their products produce wonderful sound! I only have one arm on my Interspace. Do you have two arms on yours Thermionics?

Yes. I have an AudioMods Series IV with a Hana SL moving-coil on the left pod and a Fidelity Research FR24 Mk2 on the right pod (normally switch between a Denon DL103r with an Aluminum Body Cap and a Lyra Helikon Mono depending on stereo v. mono playback). Photo below shows it with the Lyra:



This is the heavy-platter version with the bronze weights in the platter. I've had the turntable for 17 years - one of the best audio equipment purchases I've ever made.
