Dalton was very much a part of that Village folk scene, she played and sang with most of them, including Van Ronk. She was thought of as a hillbilly Billie Holiday. And like Ms. Holiday she had personal demons that got the best of her and eventually killed her.
Btw, Karen Dalton, aka KD, is the ‘Katie’ in the Dylan/The Band song “Katie’s Been Gone”.
