Yes I was phoned interviewed not even a lunch, but they sill got a few silly wrong, The Claymore was made then for 240VAC and now we are 230VAC so the O/P would be lower I never used a transformer in the MC stage,

i've got a vintage claymore too! time to dig it out soon as, with the warming weather, tube amp and class a amp season is ending.

Just found out the Gold Claymore used was one I gave Paul Miller some 30+ years ago, cool, Love to see it and upgrade it mmmm nice.

Shame. The way it was presented in the magazine it seemed like that was just how it looked.

The Gold ones where done for a show in Switzerland and only six. Normal common one were Black. Oh the Gold one had Gold plated PCB also.
The cost to buy new over £1000, The Black ones were only £345.
The Gold ones I did because I did Gold Plated Power Plugs in the late 1970-1985 the first I think in the world now everybody makes them. And that was joke originally for the reviewer Chris Frankland, a Christmas Present I caught him one day polishing is Brass Power Plugs, so being a sceptic I called the first one for him only Gold-Done-Mains. The sod like them and he came up with the name "Inca Tech".

How much did all the gold cost?

At the time it was about 100umm thick on Nickel on Copper and was about £150.
The review got a few things wrong, the chassis was copper and so was the knob all gold plated.
The solder was Cadmium based to stop gold migration. Nasty nasty stuff and the melting point was 400C it also contain Silver. So today the joints will still be as new. The internal heatsink brackets normally Aluminium were also Copper and Gold plated, a wee bit OTT me think,
