A New Deck?

Certainly attractive in a manly sort of way.
They also get good reviews in the audio press.

I've been doing my research. Looks are not much of a priority. Eash of use, quality, and ability to convey music invisibly and Made in the US. Not cheap but I'm not getting any younger.

DSC_0073.JPG That's not the issue. The issue is streaming sounds good these days. Mabey I'm getting lazy. The deck's a fine piece of work I'm sure and I have a Soundsmith Paua MkII picked out for it. $16.5's lot's of greenbacks. I will be the first to get his new upgraded linear power supply. I should just go ahead and pull the trigger and buy a sleep aid in the meantime. It will be a shame to have this in a closet. it will stay somewhat clean an away from prying hands though. No Bourbon while using this deck.

You will like he SoundSmith. I have an Aida.

Still haven't pushed the pay now button. Found a deal on a VPI Classic 4 @ 1/2 the price. This would be a less costly move. And would leave some $$$$ in the coffer for the Voxative's.

A good friend has a Classic 3. it is a fine table. He has the ADS and says it does improve the performance. Does it have the 3D arm?

That would be hard to resist. The F&R is probably a great table but the VPI has history.

This thread seems to have gone a bit quiet so I thought I’d wake it up and post a pic of my new turntable. CE20B342-008B-44DF-A7F4-698F2A72B66A.jpeg

Needs a bit of tlc and it may very well stay in it’s box until I retire in a year or so but I think it’ll make a nice partner for my 598.

Thanks. I have a soft spot for Empire TTs. I will need to build a power supply to convert 240vac at 50hz to 117vac at 60hz. I’m looking forward to
that. The Papst motor used in these decks is very good. I converted my other Empire to dc and I’d like to have the Papst motor back in that too.

It has a little patina on it but that should buff right out!;)
