A taste of Western Electric (or the Line Magnetics take on it)

Oh yeah Anthony, you would LOVE this place! But don't bring your wallet when I bring you there (not too from AZ is it?).
Just a hop, skip and a jump away. ;)

I think you are right though, leave the wallet at home when you go there. Way too dangerous

Since Loyalty Sound is now 'local' to me, I couldn't resist dropping in while waiting for some automotive work to be done down the road.

Such a cool place, and here's some more pics.

Didn't get to hear the Line Magnetics, but man, would I love too! Maybe another day.

When the owner heard me say I used Altecs on 2A3s (or at least used to when I had a room!), he brought me back to this room out back.

These original Altec 1505s are absolutely mint - I thought they had to be re-pros or something but he told me no, he pulled them out of an old theater that was torn down in north Calgary years ago - all original, as were the 288Cs. JBL 18" bass drivers but I never asked about the bullet tweeters.

There were problems with the Artemis 6c33 amps in use here (kept blowing fuses which wasn't a surprised considering the amount of heat they were puking out!) but my brief listen standing way back from them was an "oh my!" moment; there just might be something to the rabid love I hear of for these ungainly (and normal room inappropriate?) beasts. If I only had the space!

Something tells me I'm going to end up a regular in that store. :)
By chance did you get to listen to the 300b’s you were eyeing on your last visit?
The LM iconic replicas will look similar to my build once finished. Although they would look fancier with gold emblem/bolts, I’ll be using silver/brushed nickel bits.
