A town so nice....

..they named it twice. Hello from remote eastern Washington state (Walla Walla to be precise).
I took the same path that many of you have probably also walked. Started way back with
Sound Practices: the magazine that changed everything
(thanks Joe). In the end ( I think its the end) I chose Shindo.
Speakers: Altec Valencia 864B (8 ohm)
Amplifier: Shindo Montille el84
Preamp: Shindo Aurigies
Analog: Tires soon to be sold and replaced with a yet to be refurbished TD124 Mk 1
Digital: Totaldac D1Core and Roon.

Welcome and great choice in gear. I hope to sample a shindo pre (and maybe amp) soon with my altecs.

Welcome to the Haven @Shindogreen!

Great looking system you’ve got there. You know, not to nitpick, but I think that technically Shindo took their cues from Altec green. ;)

Love Walla Walla - I'm thinking in ~ 10 years we may pull up stakes on the West Side (Woodinville) and move back to Walla Walla for retirement. I love the Whitman Campus, I love the wheat fields, I love the Blues, and I love the seasons. Plus the people are really, really nice.

I'm probably doing the opposite and moving to West Seattle in the next year or so. I'd love to hear those crossovers you've been working on..I'm in Woodinville almost every week. I always bring wine..just sayin.

Well, it's a bit of an odd time due to COVID, of course - especially given that my wife had chemo a few years back so she has some immunity issues so visits are probably out for a while, but if things get a little more normal, I'd be happy to have you come by. My gear isn't as nice as your Shindo gear, and definitely the 604E's are not in final cabinets, but the upstairs system with the Altec 753 cabinets a la @je2a3 sound very nice whether driven by a custom Dynaco Stereo 35, my Dave Gillespie W4AM triode monoblocks, or my cheap & cheerful Get*SET*Go amp.

But Altec put that wonderful green inside a box where no one can see it!!!
Can’t argue with that. I’ve seen some folks showcase Altec green horns, but that’s as much as you can get...

I love the look of Shindo gear. Never got to hear any in the flesh, but considering my taste I have a feeling I’d really like it.

Of course....when things get back to normal. Whenever that might be.

It is incredible. You would love it.

Welcome to HFH!

I was just listening to my TD124 last night with a friend's RMG309i. 👍😊

I think you have a dealer nearby...they are few and far between.

Yep, Arizona HiFi carries Shindo. I’ve never been lucky enough to be there when they had them setup to demo. I’m sure they would by request... Maybe one of these days.

Honestly, I’ve been on a DIY kick for a while now and which keeps me busy. That and I am afraid if I heard these I’d want to take them home with me.. ;)

I stopped by not too long ago, very nice people there. But with a recent shindo price hike and the new price being out of reach at the moment; I am keeping an eye out for gently used pre.
I bet that EL84 & pre you have is quite special.

I'm a bottom feeder....the Totaldac was the first new piece of gear I've bought in probably 15 years. I've always liked el84 amps, but never imagined one could be my end game. I wish I could explain why its so good...it draws me in and keeps me engaged for hours and hours.

Sweet system! I love my shindo and altec combo.
Ken Shindo obviously liked Altec. What pairing do you have?
