Advice on Repairing/Identifying Altec 802(?)

I recently picked up what I believe is a 70's version of the Altec 802 (with Symbiotik diaphragm?), along with a 32C plastic horn in a pretty odd local CL deal - the seller simply listed it as a 'Vintage Altec speaker + horn', and apparently had no further interest in it. He worked at a speaker/cabinet shop that puts together monitors + other equipment for studios in LA, and was happy to get rid of it. Had been lying around there for over 20 years, apparently.

The only markings on it are a couple of stamps on the outside, plus one inside the cap. Could anyone give pointers on the model version? It measures 2.75" from base to 'top' - where the smaller diameter plastic cover for the diaphragm is. The Centre circle measures about 0.75" to in height. Overall diameter is about 4.5". Looks similar to the model posted here by Je2a3. 806/807 or 802/808?

Bad news is, there's an open DCR reading across the terminals. I took a look inside and saw one of the terminating leads for the voice coil had snapped. What's more, I think it's just a little too short to reconnect and solder. The lead is pretty brittle too, so I didn't want to force it.

So my rambling question is - do you think there's much I can do at this point, or is worth just sending over to Bill at GPA to put in a new aluminum diaphragm? Or ask him to try to repair the leads for the Symbiotik? Or both.... and just keep the Symbiotik as a spare in the hopes that another 802 body shows up (which is a possibility, given the seller mentioned he might have another one somewhere).

The JELabs post on the different diaphragms (http://jelabs.blogspot.com/2017/03/altec-small-format-diaphragms-aluminum.html) has piqued my interest, might be fun comparing aluminum to Symbiotik when I eventually get all the various parts together for my mono set-up. Though I'm unsure if the scuffs on the diaphragm will have any adverse effect?

Any thoughts would be appreciated! And apologies for the pretty poor phone photos.

From what I've seen, Altec used the 32 & 808 combo in several PA floor monitors in the 70's. As for that particular driver/horn pairing, that's where I'd guess it's from.

Thank you both - good to know if I decide keep the Symbiotik that someone could fix it. Or I could convert to an 802 by adding the aluminum (and changing the suspension?) Things to consider!

Changing the diaphragm and adding felt to the rear cover is all that’s needed to convert an 808 to an 802. Pretty simple. I have 802-8G’s here that began life as 808-8B..

Thanks for the reminder on the felt! - Knew I'd forgotten something. I dug around and found the GPA illustration of the differences. I'll probably change to aluminum, and try to rustle up the felt + shorter screws to try without the loading cap.
