All quiet here (not)

Listened for a bit before church. Me and the Mrs. got a couple of the bikes out for a quick blast. Then home for some more listening. All in all,a perfect day.

Post Whore In Training
Did not have any opportunity to listen to music this weekend - too busy dealing with a puppy who just had knee surgery and getting everything lined up for my daughter's HS graduation on Tuesday. However, things are afoot.

We were lucky enough to be in NoVA (Alexandria) just as Brood X emerged a coupla weeks ago. They weren't there when we got there, but they were two days later.

Mrs. H and a newly-emerged friend. She felt very bad for the ones she saw upside-down on the trail we were walking. They'd presumably fallen before their wings dried out & couldn't get up, but didn't have a MedicAlert :( She rescued several of them, so that they have a chance to either perpetuate the species or get eaten by something (or someone). ;)

Any chance you recorded the din of the cicadas? I bet the auditory experience was enjoyable, at least for a short stretch.

Actually, now that you mention it, I think I did make one short "movie" when we were there, and actually it was about 4 weeks ago, come to think of it!. Tempus fugit.

The sound is otherworldly. Because they're pretty much everywhere, it always seems to emanate from somewhere slightly removed from one's current locale, as if there's a UFO landing a few hundred yards away (or meters, for our Friends to the North*) -- but not in any particular direction.

I will see if I did make a video and if the audio quality is worthwhile -- I'll do something with it.
