Hey all, selling my Almarro A205a MKll, its been a great little amplifier as well as integrated amplifier, brought to an entirely new level with the teflon caps and even more so by a new set of tubes!!!! I would like to sell this locally however will reluctantly ship for a few extra bucks for shipping..... Lots of pics on this site and this amplifier is listed on CAM for 700.00

If I didn't have one already, I'd be all over this..... ;)

IMHO, the Almarro A205a is an incredibly good sounding amp and one of the all time best values in High-End Audio.

The SEP EL84 Almarro is a magical little amp and brings joy to your ears.

Someone will be very happy with this amp.

GLWTS.....

So tempted.. been on my radar for a long time and all the good words about how well they go with Altec 604's. Any chance of bringing over to Sarnia or even across the boarder to Port Huron?

The Almarro A205a also drives my Stax SRX III electrostatic headphones very well..... :-)

Its a possibility to London Mike, would that work?

Done deal.. Looking forward to this little guy. I had a A318 that didn't stick around for long. Sounded good, but not not great, had Model 19's at the time.

It will be interesting to hear what you think of this little guy, I suspect you will like it.

There are times in the past that other amps have caught my attention on the 604s but my long-term 'sweet-spot' has been a 2A3 - just has the best balance of pros and cons for me in my system. But having an A205a in there for a few hours (thanks Ernie!) was the biggest surprise I've had to date powering the Altecs - just seemed a great match for the 604-8G driver and so very close to hitting all the 'pros' of the 2A3 with little or nothing on the negative side. On the right speakers, this little Almarro has been one of my biggest surprises on the price/performance scale.

Sold!!! Think your gonna like this Mike!!! Working out a meet time next Sat for us, details to follow...............

Thanks, Mike. That saves me from buying it, to do a head-to-head with my unmolested Almarro, to see what the Solens bring to the table. Don't be afraid to roll the 12AX7. I'm running a Matsushita, that's been there for a long time. It's made me happy, but I've acquired a Mazda 'silver plate', which is starting to pique my curiosity. It's a dangerous path, I know.

Enjoy your new amp. I hope it works out well for you.

The first tube amp I heard was an Almarro. To this day it's been one of the best sounding amps I've listened to. Enjoy Mike!

Sure I'm going to like it very much.. For the past couple months I've been running somebodies DIY single ended EL84 amp and been really enjoying it. The Almarro with better iron and components should be much more of a good thing...

Prime Minister ... are interested in meeting up in the London area next Saturday? I still remember you had a TU-717 that wanted improved..

I may end up going the triode route, but it's one of those things that I'd like to try before committing to. The cost of some of those tubes has be a little shy about it also. A nice pair of EL84's don't hurt the wallet so hard.

Good point Mike. I know Ernie had been through a bunch of tubes to get the amp to the voicing I heard but damn, was it nice, and I bet the RCA 2A3s and WE 417a tubes alone in the amp I compared it too cost more these days than the Almarro and a good set of tubes all in.
