Another new addition to the audio family

Not that I was planning on a new cd player, but when a great deal comes along, sometimes you just can't say no.

On Tuesday, I'll be picking up this little beauty. A Marantz SA-15S2 Limited:

So, as always, I'm moving in the opposite direction from everyone else on the Haven.

Nope! Gonna sell my DAC. This thing sounds killer on its own, and SACDs are magical. It does have high res digital inputs, so I could use it as a dac if I chose to. But I seem to still prefer physical media.

Congrats Erik. I had the SA-11S2 for a while..nice machines. I came to realize I prefer aa bit 'softer' digital sound, at least for what I can afford.

BTW, doesn't Shelby1420 have one of these along with a matching Marantz integrated amplifier?

I have two friends locally who use Marantz players. Nice on their own and even better with just a couple of tweaks.

I do indeed, really happy that Erik is keeping it in the family............... Tis mine that is on its way to Erik this Tuesday!! Really love this unit, however with the new DAC and my needs changing somewhat, this seems to be a logical next step ( offset some of the cost ). I may come to regret this down the road.......at least I know where to go if I need a listen..................

The Marantz SA 15 S2 Ltd is a great player I had one for 2 years. It will kill an Oppo!
Just sold recently and went with a Chord DAC because I wanted to get into computer streaming.

I guess for $2k it doesn't need tweaks. It certainly shouldn't. That is a price range I will never be in.

Nice CDP. Just grab yourself a good USB to SPDIF converter and you can have it all. I use a Gustard U12 on my Denon DVD-9000 and it's a ridiculously good combo.

I'm actually good with just spinning CDs and SACDs. I've tried the computer audio thing twice now, and just haven't enjoyed it. Not arguing it doesn't sound better, but it just isn't as enjoyable of an experience for me.

Listening to it as I type. The Audio Fidelity, Kevin Grey remastered Harry Belafonte "Calypso" (SACD yet), sounds brilliant. No brightness to this beast at all. Very warm and mellow sounding, but with tons of detail.

Starting to finally get some listening time in. This thing really does sound extremely nice. Very smmmmmooootttthhhh. No digital fatigue of any kind. I could get used to this.
