Just got this new-to-me streamer. I set it up in the sun room. Now to do some listening and see how it compares to the Auralic Altair in my living room.

I'm curious, does the Linn DS app actually work in controlling an Auralic streamer? I ask because I believe the Lightning DS app is an Auralic skinned version of the Linn app, and the Auralic hardware conforms to the Linn OpenHome standard. If thats the case then perhaps those apps are fully interchangeable?

Due to crossover from both apps' architecture using OpenHome/UPnP, the Linn app does have a limited ability to control Auralics., but they are two different apps.

It is too bad that the Linn app doesn't have more functionality with Auralic devices. Since Auralic left the US market, they have removed the DS Lightning download. This means anyone wanting to buy on the secondary market has no way to control the device, unless they already have the app from a previous Auralic purchase.

Thank you, and as I'm sure you had surmised, that was exactly why I asked that question. I was hoping that the Linn app was completely interchangeable. I wonder if the LUMIN version of that app is any better or more compatible/fully featured if used with an Auralic device?

I was looking at one of these streamers but it sounds like the fact that the app is no longer available in the US market, that's quite the game changer.
