AXPONA 2022 - April 22-24

I've decided this will be the first show I attend post-COVID after backing out of Capital Audio Fest due to the Delta variant. I'll be in room 1226 in case anyone wants to drop by. I'll share more about the room as time draws near but at the moment it appears I'll be geared to the teeth this year.

Here is a pic of my room at AXPONA 2019.

I will probably go next year? It's been about 5 years since I've been to a show- they're just not my cup of tea. But I'm out of step with what's out there now and want to hear some new gear. I'll say hello!

Very tempted here....might just grab a local audio friend or two and hop in the car for a road trip...

Can’t wait for AXPONA. I’ve rolled my ticket over twice now. Fingers crossed. Assuming this show goes ahead, I’ll see you there.

Me, too. Hopeful that the world isn’t a s***show still… remaining optimistic, or at least trying to!

Excellent! I love connecting with fellow audio enthusiasts. It's the primary reason I became a dealer. Distribution just kind of... happened.

I asked about this before, but what's the parking situation there? I could camp out at my daughter's in Chicago for a couple nights, but a 2 hour CTA trip each way isn't very attractive. I thought there was EL access to O'Hare, but I guess I'm mistaken and this is about 5 miles from there anyways.

L plus Uber?
Last time I went there was parking in the hotel lot but that was 7 years ago at a different hotel.

LMAO, I just looked at a map. The lot looks big, but I could always park down the road at Costco and hike over. I mean I only did that for 20+ years... :D

But if Covid is still rampant and masking required I may pass. Being off work for 14 months and now actually retired, I haven't become acclimated to wearing one more than half an hour or so at a time.
Maybe 2023 is more realistic. IDK...

Ooooh it’s by IKEA in Schaumburg. And they still call that Chicago in the flyer? 🤣

I walk from the Springhill Suites each year. It doesn’t suck, unless it’s snowing…

Ha! I bet I've been there a couple of times already with Han! I'll just mention where it is and she'll give me directions 🤣🤣

Last time Olson and I went we found ourselves trudging across the tundra in the snow the last day. Stopped at a nice brewery for a bite and a beer to make up for it. Maybe called Greenbush?

Just heard yesterday that Covid hospitalizations at my old hospital have surpassed the old record by quite a bit. I'm not planning on attending once again.😢

Maybe I can convince my wife to go brewery hopping in Chi town as there are several very nice breweries. Then sneak out one day and hit up AXPONA.

Here is an update thus far:

I'm waiting on some things to arrive, but I do have the following AudioQuest products that will be in full use at AXPONA:

Niagara 5000
Full Loom of Dragon power cables
Dragon interconnects
Thunderbird speaker cables

This new AQ stuff is simply incredible. I didn't intend to go straight to the top of their line, but its so far beyond anything I've heard that I couldn't justify NOT doing it.

I'm still waiting on the Dragon interconnects, but they should be shipping soon. In the mean time, I made another purchase that will be making an appearance at AXPONA - The Lumin P1. So far, I'm extremely impressed with this thing.

Also just prepared and about to cross the pond is my new Norma products: the SC-2 LN preamplifier and the PA-160MR monoblock amplifiers. The picture in the first post was their previous generation of these same products. I'm excited to see the improvements they bring.
