AXPONA Chicago April 12-14, 2019

Personally, I’d be in favor of an audio-free "lounge" as a respite from the fracas. But I guess we wouldn’t need a $4k room for that...

Good point DC. Good memories of having a drink or two with you and Olson while some decent jazz was on the duffel bag system Olson brought. Rinse and repeat.

I’d be open to an audio-free room as well, BTW @Don C , just purchased my ticket today. Love to plan on a lunch or dinner with all who are available Friday or Saturday evening.

Anybody else flying in to O'Hare Friday morning want to share a cab to the hotel? I'm landing about 9am. I remember it being about $60 ("flat fee") out to Schaumburg last year.

Its MUCH cheaper to take an uber out of O'hare these days. There are dedicated ride share pick up places now. It's probably about 1/2 the price of that flat fee.

Yeah that’s way too high. Even a prearranged ride service like American Taxi is a little over $30

I figured I’d investigate Lyft/Uber, too. Last year I just hit the easy button: walk out of terminal, get in cab. But then I saw the fee and considered that next time warranted better planning.

You can call uber or lyft while in the terminal and there are dedicated places to be picked up. If its still the same as last year, the area was between the terminals. O'hares terminals are in a "U" so it was just the sidewalk area between them, not a far walk. They fought it for a long time but the unwillingness of Chicago's cab mafia to adapt at all forced their hand. You'll end up in probably a nicer car with somebody who doesn't quite know as well where they're going, but Schaumburg is just up the road.

I like how Axpona claims its in Chicago. Schaumburg ain't Chicago.

Hey @Don C , are you staying through Saturday? I may be able to pick you up at Ohare on my way to Schaumburg Friday.

Thanks, Mike! Your offer is very much appreciated! However, I don't want to impose *at all* or complicate things. As we get a little closer, let's talk!

Edit: Yes, coming back home Sunday evening.
