This high-efficiency pursuit isn't exactly mainstream: even the biggest audio forums are either woefully short of information or chock-full of misinformation, dutifully repeated ad nauseum by the faithful brainwashed drones of the audiophile hive.

Yeah, I'm getting jaded. :-/

So what's the audiophile misfit to do? Tune in to the audio underground, of course! Put on your tinfoil hats and fire up your soldering iron, the interwebs are full of weirdos just like you (and me)!

Here's a collection of some of my favorite blogspots and websites for your reading pleasure and inspiration. What you'll find once you dig into a few is that they're all rather incestuously interlinked to one another but that's okay - it's a good kind of cult to be in!

Thank you for this. I've been burnt out on audio for about 2 years now. I'll start reading some of the above...the nature of what's popular in audio now, or what's usually talked about in vintage, has left me just shrugging my shoulders and wanting to do pretty much anything else besides this hobby.
 
I think you'll find some good stuff in there, John. These guys are pioneers, poets, experimenters and archivists. And many of them really know their way around a camera!
 
I've seen some of these before but this is good stuff Nate! I've got some reading to do.

Uh oh, you've gotten me sucked into the modification of a Sony TTS-2500 on Magic Moment...next thing you know I'll be buying one of those TTS-3000s I've been eying on ebay and following along...

What a cool film! I don't know what to think about the products but I get the sense we are seeing true artists at work here - would LOVE to hear this stuff.
 
Yeah, these guys "get it." Sometimes I think about selling everything I own* to fund an all out, soup-to-nuts Jackson and Slagle system. I do think it would be a worthwhile endeavor.
 
I heard Jeffrey Jackson's system at VSAC 2008 (probably the last one). It sounded good with what they were playing, then the guy demoing the system changed the source material and it was awe inspiring. I walked all around it, peered into the amplifier (5' tall) and marveled at the first time aligned horn speaker system I had ever seen.

Oh, I wholeheartedly agree, Jeffery gets it. Sadly for me, I don't know Slagle.
