Best blogs of the audio underground

Great stuff in this thread! Thanks Nate for posting it and a tip of the hat for every else adding to it and reviving it!

You say you like amplifiers, do you?
You say, "hey, I'm lookin' for some cool ideas for amplifiers" -- do you?

In case you get the urge, say, to go Class B -- and leave fleapower behind.

I believe the text mentions that the swinging choke in the P/S probably weighs as much as a modern receiver.
We're trying to cajole Someone We Know into slappin' one together ;)

古典音響。墾丁大腳牛教練 -"
Classical sound. Kenting Bigfoot Bulls Coach"

I just came accross this one! i must have saved a while back, chrome automatically translates it, i was looking for a blog that has some 2a3 schematics on, i distictly remember it had a lot of western electric as well as Brookes brother's stuff on it (ring a bell to anyone?)

Ohh I have one I stumbled upon today and hope someone decides to tackle a project or two listed on there. He’d be a good addition to the Haven family too!

Pete Millett's DIY Audio pages

I've tackled several of his projects - here are a few I've posted about:

Yet another amp build...
New DIY USB PSU for Raspberry Pi
Buzz's intepretation of Pete Millet's Starving Student Headphone Amp
Pete Millett's Engineers Amp

Pete's a great guy - he's helped me out on several occasions with odd questions.

It’s been a while since we’ve added to the list here. Time to breath some new life into this thread.

Here is one I’ve been enjoying recently:

Also, I’ll make this a sticky again so that we don’t go another 4 years till the next post.

Hey, that's Kenji's site! He's a good guy. I bought my Feastrex field coil drivers from him some years back and would love to hear that AFT!

I walked away from the herd & herd mentality a long time ago and really appreciate the individualism on this forum and on the sites offered in this thread. It was the influence of the philosophies and spirit of my youth listening and being involved in hardcore punk in the 80’s; I never have wanted to be a “me too” in any way, shape or form. I have been out of step and going against the grain in audio for a long time and this has exposed me to all the different factions in the hobby that are not mainstream and which hold hidden treasures. My desire for discovery and learning stays true to this day.

I will offer a few additional sites that have great information:

From a great builder, Radu Tarta:

Thermionic Tubes and Sound Revelations

From France, Exploration of horn loudspeakers and turntables. This blog was created by Charles Michlin of Azzolina Audio, a loudspeaker company:

ElectraVolt

Mr. DHT, Al Bartola:

All about electronic valves and hi-fi

There is some fantastic stuff at that ElectraVolt blog. Wowza! Not sure where the $ come from for all that experimenting but I'd sure love to know.

Agree. I find the French to be pretty passionate about audio reproduction. There is a vibrant DIY community there and it is great to see music lovers and audiophiles not resorting to going to the sham & swindle that the commercial high-end audio trough has become.

That ElectraVolt is quite the site. It is a rabbit hole that I will be exploring for some time!
