BEST NEW MUSIC? [No Older Than 10-years]

This guy scorched the scene back in 1988 - and he still sings like a young man. Just unbelievable!

(Okay. This release is 9-years old now, but still - Mr. Cray is no spring chicken...)

Sounding very good on well-pressed vinyl LP.

👆 I can't tell if he's beating a large rock with a funny looking pipe, or trying to play some huge flute thingy with his forehead! 🤣

I enjoy most of his recordings. well, maybe all. I do like the spiritual jazz style without the Coltrane-out elements.

I'm not really quite sure what to make of it. It's a bit like the background music they play when you get acupuncture or a massage. But I also don't dislike it. Of the ambient works I've heard recently, its been more intriguing to me than most.

Before Covid, my wife and I got regular massages from the same therapist. She once told me that one of her clients would frequently ask her to stop the massage so he could Shazam the music that was on. If Shazam couldn't ID it, he would make a note on his phone of the exact time he heard it so he could ask the office manager to figure out the tune. 💆‍♂️

I guess it wouldn't be relaxing if the name of the song was just eating him up inside?

I've done that with one of the local college stations. If they don't say what something is, and I like it, I make note of the time and look up their playlist later, which is often online (if Shazam doesn't recognize it...which is often the case as some of the music is new and obscure).

Probably one of the best recorded albums I have yet encountered...
I know, I know... That's a VERY big call, but wait till you hear THIS!
If all DIGITAL music sounded this good, I wouldn't bother with vinyl.

Yes, it sounds slightly better on vinyl, but even the DIGITAL stream of this album is a stunner!
This is the opening track and one that I use as a test track.
