Best Selling Music Artists of 1969 - 2019 Source: Data Is Beautiful

Interesting to see. Elvis was on there for ever! Also neat to see Elton John and Michael climb so quickly and hold the top spots for a while.
Any Drake fans? (Crickets in background....)

Here is another one on popular music. Interesting to see various subsets splitting off and becoming their own genres.

a. I had no idea House was so popular.

b. I had to Google Chanson Music.

I likes me some data. :)

I am 'watching' it piecemeal (up to ca. 1986 as I type this) -- one observation so far is that Billy Joel, for a long time (at least a decade) was kinda the Susan Lucci of pop music  by this metric. Sorta always a bridesmaid, never a bride.

I'm surprised, personally, that he was even that notable. One of those artists who's continued appeal I simply do not get. Apparently he's an a-hole to boot.

So, just watched one "Psy" appear and disappear like flowers in the desert from 2013 to 2014 -- not that I know who or what Psy is or was.

That was that very strange short-lived fascination every non-music person had with "Gangnam Style" a few years ago because of the goofy video that accompanied it. Kind of a so-bad-its-good thing for a bunch of people. I think it was horrible but then again, I also think Billy Joel is horrible so?

Kids are awesome. It's modern kids programming that sucks.

My kids grew up on Spongebob, and my all time favorite: 'Fosters Home for imaginary friends', the art is fantastic, and it's a funny show. Blooregard Q Kazoo is my spirit animal.
