A couple weeekends ago I had a red-headed woodpecker about 15 feet out the front window and last weekend I watched an Eastern bluebird eat red berries off a "tree shrub" right outside another window. The pics through the screened window are not worthy though.
I was working on the house today, evicting woodpeckers (Flickers) from my attic. Came around the corner and saw a Pileated Woodpecker on one of my trees. Couldn't get to my camera fast enough to get a pic, though.
I managed to get an image of (I think) a Downy Woodpecker last Sat. It flew into a tree not more than 10' from me while I was strolling along a path in a park, and proceded to sit still for fractions of a second at a time. I had not expected any close encounters like this and had a long lens on the camera, which made getting even this poor shot very difficult.
