Cassettes, again: Nakamichi LX-5

The LX series were (like many other Naks) real lookers. I especially liked the brushed aluminum contrasting with black. I've had a few tape decks, mostly Nakamichi, and still love one deck enough that I hope to keep as long as I can hear. This Dragon was given to me from the original owner. A very generous gesture to be sure. Only I did need to get rebuilt, so it went off to Willy H years ago. I still have some tapes from the early to mid-80's that were recorded on a BX-1 from a Beogram 1700 / MMC2, that still sound great. Sure, it's not digital and you can hear some tape noise. But I can tell you that anyone that has heard these tapes is mystified that analog tape can sound so good. For context to my setup, I also have CD, vinyl, open reel and 8-track. :)

Cool.

This beauty came along locally a few years ago and I made a trade for it. It apparently had been some Dr's that took meticulous care of it and the entire package of box, manuals, alignment tapes microphones etc. I then proceeded to pick up cassettes when I came across them for a while. Was fun and reminded me of my youth for sure.
