Chicago Area Hifi Fair, September 17th 2022

Hi all,

There will be a HiFi fair in Mount Prospect, IL on September 17th with a looooot of great gear available to be seen, demo'ed, purchased, gawked at , etc Attached is a flyer for the show. I personally will be selling my father's Sansui 9090DB and JBL L65 Jubals as well as an Audio Research SP-6B preamplifier and some of my tube stock. I'll post details of that in the emporium, this is just a heads up about the show

FWIW, I've seen some of the other gear that will be available including the NIB Garrard 301, Threshold 400, B & W 803's, Quad ESL's and others - some really really nice stuff

I'd like to buy the "Vintage Western Electric Amplifiers" please! 😆

Actually, that looks like fun. I expect there will be few bargains in the lot, but seeing it all in the same room would be cool!

You never know.. I think folks might be motivated to skirt new regulations on online payment reporting, but it was definitely a kick seeing/hearing gear last year.

Come on down Nate! I'll take you out for Thai or Indian food after; your choice

In case folks are interested, I took a few photos from the event - some really fun stuff to see - an Arthur Loesch designed/built push pull 300b amp, 2 Garrard 301's, B & W 801's, Quad ESL 57's were some of the things that stood out for me

most of these are still available, as turnout was rather light, so if you see something you are interested in, let me know and I might be able to put you in touch with the folks who had them

Wow what a bunch of neat gear! Did you sell your preamp? I considered heading down but quickly realized it was my wife's birthday weekend.

@240sx4u I did sell the Audio Research, you are a smart man not to miss your wife's birthday to look at audio gear!

@Gene_StL I do not know how much the yamaha were on sale for, but did meet the seller, if you're serious I could dig up his contact info and put you in touch

@Olson_jr i don't know about the zen adagio, I do know the legacy were still there

Thanks for the reply. I already have four of them. I am setting them up in a multi channel system.
If you run across that person maybe ask him but don't go to any trouble. I bought a mint pair here in St. Louis for $500. and a less good pair for $300.

I do see them offered for as much as $3500 (in the ebony veneered boxes) But you can easily buy them all day long for under $1000 in the black monitor box.
