Chicago Music and Audio Club

The idea of forming an informal group started a few months ago with a few of us getting together to discuss ideas for a club. No dues, no rules except be kind to each other, to have fun sharing music interests and demonstrating audio gear, and to help each other.

To kick things off our first meeting will be on Saturday, October 26th at 12 noon at my house in Barrington. RSVP required. Contact me for details, by email (bpwalsh@gmail.com) or phone, 773-809-4434.

Please let others know.

Hey Brian, we have met a few times at Bob's. I'm interested in this sort of thing in the future, sorry for the late reply here.

I've always wanted to attend, But when I contacted them I got some pretty strange vibes.

Figured it was because I was from Milwaukee... lol...

We have been looking for a bar or pub to host some listening sessions here in Beer city.

New place opened up called the Wiggle room, Vinyl only. Might give them visit.

Not surprising, but not because you're from Milwaukee. Slow response if at all may be the norm. I've heard many complaints about people not receiving newsletters. The existing officers have had 20 years to straighten things out, but they haven't. Questions about club finances are stonewalled, no reporting. I give up. Mind you, I'm more disappointed than anything else. I figured it's time for a fresh start.

We call that "Clubitus" The tendency to isolate the Club instead of growing the membership.

Ham, Audio, Book, Antiques, most ones I've had contact with.

I miss "The Third Place".

Ran an electronics business that was a "Third Place" every Friday and Saturday we'd have dozens of people listening and talking about music for hours and hours.

Didn't realize how good we had it, But between 911 and the 2008 Debacle it took us down.

Miss that place.

Pretty much, Buck. I remember the CAS first meeting in October '94 where 45 people showed up.

CMAC can be whatever people want it to be, I hope with emphasis on music.
