Classic Golden Ratio Monitors

Wrapped up the build today, and we had a bit of a listen in my office. Magnavox 9302 PP EL84 amp and my iphone streaming Tidal. Placing them closer to the rear wall and being in a smaller room helped a good bit, they really sound nice. Fun build and a great pair of speakers for @opa1 !!

As we were putting them into his truck we remembered to take some finished pics:

They're in the system. It will take a bit to get them in the right spot. These throw such a wide image, I think I'll need to work on the first reflection point. I'm getting phantom sounds all over the place.
You got my cotton top in the pic. lol Gotta say thanks to @gable. These turned out nice.

I'm still working with them. They throw a very large image. I'm having trouble getting the center into focus. Room reflection problems and source/amp. When I get the Aleph finished I'll have a better idea.

That's odd. Checked polarity???

The polarity is good to go.

That's weird, man. In all my years working with Markaudio drivers I've never encountered an image that wasn't centered, both on and extremely off axis. Their shallow cone is known for wide dispersion though.... so who knows. Hope you get it figured out.

It's none of my business but I think you need a rug on that tile floor for reflections.

I had them on 26" stands now in a different room. I know the first reflection on one side needs help. More experimenting needed. :)

The only amps I've used have been TPA3116 based. We did use the F5 when the speakers were at @gable place. I'll try inverting the phase sometime this weekend. I've been busy as of late.

I tried a few things this weekend. Reversed the polarity. This did change the pattern but, SQ wasn't right. Using the correct polarity the speakers really sound nice but, I'm thinking a narrow baffle set up would be better with the drivers. Now I've been using a mickey mouse amp/DAC combo while I wait to finish the Aleph.

If you want, bring them on by to the shop and you can borrow my Alpair 7 bookshelf speakers to hear a narrow baffle enclosure.

Would it be possible to compare the sound of the Alpair 7 and Golden Ratio Monitors at the same time?
