Sad, but true. Looks like I missed out on this one, though!I see that you are a turntable hoarder - just like me.
How do you think they would sound near-field driven by a little Advent 300?I have a pair of the Mission MS50 and think they are an incredible value. Really a fun pair of speakers that are very musical.
They sound very musical driven by the Topping TP60, the NFJ&FX Audio TPA3250 (the stock PS was OK, the Astron LS10A linear PS is much better) and the Luxman LS400.
Low end is what it is for a small stand mount. Decent tonal balance and rhythm. They are a fun speaker.
I think they would sound good listening nearfield driven by the Advent 300.
That combo of Yaqin and Mission speakers has been a very pleasant combination to own. If not for the fact that I inherited some powered studio monitors for the office. They would stay. But I can’t keep it all and they should be playing sweet tunes somewhere.
I have this little plan, y'see. I spend quite a bit of time in my office/studio/listening room with FM going. Running the full tube system for such work seems to me to be a real waste so when I get the Advent 300 back from having the tuner rebuilt I'm thinking of running it into the main speakers with switching to make the change painless. There is second speaker out on the Advent, so I could run a set of speakers on my desk (opposite side of the room from the main speakers) with it and also run the computer audio out to it instead of to the cheapie powered speakers I have used for forever. @SOund Dragon Wow, can't believe I missed this. I had no idea you had an empire...ya probably told me and I forgot. What is ironic is that my high school purchased 698 is being sold via Craigslist this AM. The guy is really an audio lover and said to me "I always wanted a 698". He had me at that statement..made him a sweet deal with extras after I heard that. The TT has been with me since high school and has many great memories attached. At least I still..and always will..have my souped up 2270 that competes tooth and nail in any competition. That baby was upgraded a few months ago and OMG...almost made me sell off my modern rig...almost, not quite..ha ha!
